In Bangladesh, despite its riverine geography, access to clean and safe drinking water remains a daunting challenge. Approximately 40% of the population, or around 70 million people, lack access to safe water, especially in rural, plain, and hill tract regions. This scarcity poses serious health risks, including waterborne diseases, which can significantly impact community well-being.

To tackle this critical issue, the Southern Charity Foundation (SCF) has implemented its Sustainable Water Access Initiative. This initiative focuses on providing reliable and safe water sources to underserved communities throughout Bangladesh. By installing tubewells in areas where clean water is limited or nonexistent, SCF ensures that families have access to safe drinking water for their daily needs, ultimately helping to prevent waterborne diseases and enhancing public health.

So far, this program has benefited 575,505 individuals, significantly reducing water scarcity in targeted regions and improving the quality of life for thousands of families. The initiative continues to expand, driven by the mission to enhance health and well-being through access to safe water.

This strategic intervention highlights SCF’s commitment to creating sustainable solutions for some of Bangladesh’s most pressing challenges, reaffirming the belief that clean water is a fundamental right for all.
